Friedrich Kicherer GmbH & Co. KG in Ellwangen/Germany is one of the largest medium-sized steel traders in Germany. Its core business is wholesale steel and steel-related products.
The company planned the construction of a new roof-bearing iron warehouse enclosed on all sides by factory halls. At the same time, lorry parking spaces, container parking areas and the lorry warehouses on the company premises were to be roofed over.
The size of the warehouse and the two-metre-deep excavation pit were particularly challenging. To ensure that the targets were met on time, an internal competition was organised between 2 assembly groups and a final inspection was carried out.
623 tonnes of steel in 21 weeks
Within 21 weeks, 623 tons of steel, 230'000 screws and 5500 dowels were installed. The end wall was constructed with interception beams due to four cross conveyor stations. Five fully automated storage and retrieval machines now operate in the warehouse, serving over 10'000 storage locations in four racking blocks.
As the coordination point, we ensured the smooth running of the project with active communication between the client and suppliers.
